Is spending several hours of the work day “networking” on Facebook a legitimate professional activity? Is this productive in producing new business or is it a simply form of procrastination?
Originally written in August of 2012, I believe the question posed in this post to be even more relevant today. The jury is in. Googling “social media addiction” yields 483,000,000 results. That's an awful lot of reading material about one issue. A very recent Nielsen study found that American adults spend “more than eleven hours per day watching, reading, listening or simply interacting with media”. It’s hard to imagine that productivity is not being compromised.
